OPPORTUNITIES
The Conflict and Recovery Lab regularly recruits student research assistants to support ongoing projects. I welcome applications from motivated undergraduate and graduate students at Western who are interested in gaining hands-on experience with experimental fieldwork, survey design, qualitative/quantitative coding, and data analysis. Positions are limited and competitive. I do my best to match students with projects that align with their interests and skills.
Undergraduate Research Assistants
I recruit undergraduate RAs on a rolling basis, with the highest demand at the start of each term. Positions are available in two forms: paid hourly positions funded through active research grants, and positions through Western's Work Study Program, which is open to students with demonstrated financial need. On occasion, I welcome volunteer RAs who are looking to build research experience.
Undergraduate RAs typically commit to one semester at a minimum, working approximately 5–10 hours per week. Tasks vary by project but may include survey programming, qualitative coding, literature review, and data cleaning. No prior research experience is required — all RAs receive training.
Graduate Research Assistants
Graduate students interested in joining the lab as research assistants are encouraged to apply. Graduate RA roles are more likely to involve substantive research responsibilities such as fieldwork coordination and collaborating on experimental design.
I am currently not accepting PhD students for supervision or co-supervision, but happy to serve on committees for graduate students at Western and beyond.
